We have a huge problem in the surf industry as almost everything that is essential is oil derived, and thus, is going to stick around way beyond our lifetimes. This is a big problem. So when shaper and friend, Dale Walker, called me up to say he’d found half a longboard washed up on a beach in Oregon, we hatched the start of a plan. To take old boards and give them a new life, then get some of the world’s best surfers to ride them to raise awareness. Well, below is the story of this board so far. Stripped of glass, patched up, re-shaped and almost ready to be re-glassed again. All the patching and glassing is being done with products that would have been thrown away – re-cycling starts at home.
