Iceland- bonus shots from the road and the water

For every five bad days of weather there is always one incredible one, which makes you realise what an amazing part of the world Iceland is.

Ian Battrick is pretty much the most committed individual you’ll ever meet, whether that is surfing or creating his own wetsuit brand Lunasurf.

arctic_dawn

Just taking a moment to soak up a brief glimpse of sun up here close to the Arctic Circle.

road_1

This road has a 100 foot drop straight into a fjord, it’s icy as hell and the day before this was closed by an avalanche, it’s sketchy.

Ian just taking a moment to check out a set.

ian_dane_2

Ian and Dane Gudauskas, Dane is probably wearing more clothes here than Ian wore in three months!

dane_4

Dane on a little left, in front of which was sadly a lot of plastic.

dane_3

Dane on the same left-hander, fishing buoy washed up in the foreground, just a little more plastic.

dane_ian_1

Ian and Dane and lines to the horizon.

Scenes do not get much colder looking, Dane.

church_2

A freezing night was spent next to this church, was worth it though.

There was about 100 feet of rope here. Totally wound around rocks, and embedded in crevasses. The amount of fishing related debris was high. The area is heavily fished, and very commercial, I have an interview coming up with a fisherman turned environmentalist and gear like this is just a small loss, so no one really cares.
